If not us, then who?
If not now, then when?

I think of how petrified and alone a child must feel while hiding from an active shooter on their campus. I imagine the helplessness that overwhelms a parent upon hearing about a shooting at their child’s school. And I remember all too well how easily a teenager can access a violent—and permanent—“solution” to their temporary pain. When I reflect on these scenarios, my heartbreak and halting sadness are surpassed only by my blinding anger.

By definition, a society is a group of people living together in a (more or less) ordered community. We must demand more of the “more” and reject the “less,” for we have long exhausted our tolerance for it. To that end, I will help in any way I can. I will consult with experienced gun control advocates to determine how best to contribute and where to focus my long-overdue efforts. I can only hope God forgives me for taking so long to get involved.
